DGP visits Handwara, reviews security situation


Srinagar, Mar 17 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Tuesday visited north Kashmir’s Handwara town where he reviewed security scenario in meetings with officers of several security agencies.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dilbagh Singh reviewed the overall security scenario with officers of several security agencies including Army, ITBP, CRPF and J&K Police. He was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar – IPS during the visit.
The DGP was received by SP Handwara Dr G V Sandeep Chakravarthy – IPS and was presented ceremonial guard of honor on this arrival.
During the visit, the DGP chaired security review meeting with Army, ITBP, CRPF and Police officers to assess the law & order situation in the district. At the occasion, he appreciated the efforts of police and other security forces for their professionalism in maintaining peace and order in the district and keeping the criminal activities under check. He exhorted upon the officers to remain cautious and alert to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the district as anti-national elements are making efforts to disturb it. He said that the synergy among the forces is the key to thwart any nefarious designs of the enemies of the nation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The DGP directed officers to strengthen the security grid and plug the gaps with tight security measures to neutralize those involved in terrorist and criminal activities. He said that stringent action has to be taken against the elements found involved in unlawful activities to ensure peaceful environment for the people. He directed the officers to maintain close liaison with the public for maintenance of peace and order. He also appreciated the strict action against drug peddlers.
The meeting was attended by IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar-IPS, SP Handwara Dr G V Sandeep Chakravarthy-IPS, ASP Handwara Mashkoor Ahmad-JKPS and the officers of Army, ITBP, CRPF and jurisdictional Police.
The DGP, during the visit, also interacted with the members of civil community and sought their cooperation for maintaining peace in the area.
Earlier the DGP J&K was briefed about the present security scenario of Handwara by the SP Handwara Dr. G.V.Sundeep Chakravarthy-IPS, and other officers. The officers also provided their feedback during the meeting. The DGP also interacted with the jawans during the visit. (KNS)
