Jammu, June 24 (KNS): Deployment of forces and security arrangements made for the ensuing Shri Amar Nath Yatra were reviewed at a high level meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here this evening.
The meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rjendra Kumar was attended by senior offices from JKP, CFPF, Army and Intelligence.
During the meeting detailed discussions were held with regard to the police bandobast for this year yatra in Jammu Division. Officers representing different security agencies gave detailed power point presentations about the deployment of manpower along the route from Lakhanpur to Jawahar Tunnel and the places of stay of pilgrims in the region.
Rajendra asked the officers to identify the sensitive places and strengthen the security grid after making joint efforts. He said that joint patrolling should be carried out round the clock in these areas and also on National Highway should be kept under continuous surveillance to foil any attempt of disruption by the miscreants. All busy places including langars should be brought under security cover and intelligence gathering accelerated, shared for making preventive measures. CCTV cameras should be utilized to get footage of busiest places.
DGP stressed upon the officers that while making the arrangements it should be ensured that common people and the yatries are not harassed. Parking of vehicles at the identified slots should be ensured and recovery vans be kept in readiness to make smooth traffic movement. Medical facilities for the pilgrims be made available and the services of ambulances should be utilized. Round the clock functioning of joint control rooms and supervision of arrangements by the senior officers was also stressed by the DGP. He disclosed that sufficient manpower from different security agencies would be deployed for yatra duty to strengthen the deployment grid.
Rajendra disclosed that pamphlets containing detailed information with regard to yatra have been prepared and would be distributed to guide the pilgrims.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelPolice help lines would be established at different places for the convenience of the pilgrims. He stressed upon the officers to make it mandatory that the common masses do not face any inconvenience during their day-to-day activities.
DGP asked for smooth regulations of traffic on National Highway, cities and other routes of the province so that commuters, particularly the business establishments and students do not suffer due to traffic jams. People’s cooperation is must for keeping law and order maintained and the field staff should develop sincere relationship with the public to achieve better results, said DGP.
Earlier, IGP Jammu Zone, Mr. Danish Rana, briefed the meeting about the all security arrangements put in place to ensure security of the pilgrims. He said that security has been strengthened at all sensitive places including the railway stations, bus stands and the Yatri Bhawan. Civil administration is also being coordinated to make required arrangements for the convenience of pilgrims, he said.
On the occasion, range DIsGP, district Superintendents of Police and other officers also apprised the meeting about the deployment of manpower in their respective areas of jurisdictions.
Mr. Rajendra also asked to strengthen the communication network and maintain liaison about the arrival and departure of pilgrims . Duty magistrates and the civil administration should be provided full cooperation in the performance their duties.
