Leh, Sep 29 (KNS): In its mission to improve infrastructure and connectivity in Leh and replace the old bridges by new modern bridges, Border Roads Organization (BRO) threw open a newly constructed bridge in Leh which will benefit the region in its economy and strategic aspects.
The 40-metere long bridge constructed by BRO under its Himank project is built at Tangtse in Durbugh block, 81 km from Leh town. Earlier, a temporary bailey bridge was existing at the spot.
The bridge i?s? built on the road that leads to famous, high-altitude Pyongong Lake, thus will increase tourist rush to the cold desert.
While inaugurating the bridge, Lt Gen S K Shrivastava, Director General Border Roads?,? complimented the 753 BRTF for achieving the task and putting in their strenuous efforts for carrying out important construction activities in the Ladakh region amid tough weather conditions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that strengthening the routes and opening of new bridges will propel the region into an era of unprecedented progress and development.
He asked all ranks of Project Himank to make efforts to improve the connectivity in the region as well as efficient maintenance and upgrade of other roads in the Ladakh region.
Locals said that the bridge is a vital development in the region as it will relieve them of the painstaking journey along the road. They said that the bridge is a lifeline for them and will increase tourist flow to the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Engineer Project Himank Brig D M Purivimath said in more mile stones will be achieved by BRO and insisted upon the officials to maintain high standards in the infrastructure development in the entire sector.? (KNS)
