DG Horticulture visits Startup Barkat Agro Farms, Pampore, lauds work of staff

Srinagar July 14:(KNS)   Director General, Horticulture Kashmir Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS), today visited Startup Barkat Agro Farms at Baddalav Sharshali Pampore. He was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Pulwama and other divisional level officers of the Department. The said farm is spread over 8 Ha of land, in which different kinds of fruit plants including High Density Apples, Walnuts etc. are propagated.

 During his visit Director General, Horticulture expressed his satisfaction over the work being conducted at the Farm and as an acknowledgement presented a letter of appreciation to the owner of the farm Mr. Fayaz Ahmad. He assured that the farm will be brought into the ambit of newly launched “High Density Plantation Nursery Scheme”.

He also promised to upgrade the skills of the workers of the said Farm by providing them the training at Departmental farms from time to time. While interacting with progressive orchardists of the area, Director General advised them to replicate the model and develop Hi-tech Nurseries through Departmental support. He also highlighted the scope of Hi-density plantation in future, as the Department is intended to replace traditional Orchards with modern Hi-density plantation.(KNS)
