Srinagar August 18:(KNS)   Director General, Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS), on Monday paid visit to District Budgam to review the Capex and other Centrally Schemes. Director General also reviewed the functioning of departmental farms, nurseries and took stock of various Departmental activities.

According to a statement to Kashmir News Service (KNS), reads, while reviewing the progress made in the Departmental scheme, he instructed the officers of the Department to ensure 100% expenditure and warned that any laxity will entail strict action. He also urged the field functionaries to make frequent visits to the field and provide the growers with latest technical knowhow, besides giving vide publicity to different Departmental schemes. The Director General later visited Fruit and Vegetable Processing Centre, Budgam. He expressed his satisfaction over the work being carried out and as an acknowledgement to the excellent work of Manager-cum-Chemist, Budgam was felicitated him with a letter of appreciation. He further added that the Centre should also be used to impart training to the youth particularly women folk on canning and processing of fruit and vegetables, in order to enable them to generate employment opportunities for themselves.(KNS)
