DG Horticulture attends training cum awareness camp at Shopian

Shopian November 18:(KNS)  Director General Horticulture Kashmir, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat (JKAS) on Thursday visited Kellar Shopian, where he attended a

training/awareness camp organized the Department Horticulture Shopian. 

The camp was organized particularly for tribal papulation.

He was accompanied by various officers of the Department. Besides Department of Horticulture other line departments viz. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, National Rural Livelihood Mission, KVIB Shopian, KVK Shopian, Tribal Affairs Department, Cooperative Department and entrepreneur Shaheen Agro Fresh took part in the camp. The camp was attended by a large number of progressive orchardists, particularly those belonging to Tribal papulation.

The main focus of the training cum awareness camp was to aware the tribal and far-flung papulation about the different Government Schemes in vogue.

 During the camp the representative of all the departments highlighted their schemes and appraised the participants about the different initiatives taken by UT Government for the employment generation and betterment of Tribal Community.

While addressing the farmers, the DG Horticulture explained the developmental schemes implemented by Horticulture

Department and he also described the incentives being provided to the orchardists under these schemes meant for socio-economic upliftment of these farmers. He further said that on the directions of Lt. Governor, the Department has started mass campaign to reach out to the border and tribal areas for which he assured more and more such programmes will be held. He further urged the participants to come forward, associate with the Horticulture Department and avail the benefits of different Central and UT sponsored schemes.

Besides, he assured that Horticulture Department will try its best and will be available round the clock to meet the demands and aspirations of the orchardists. At the end DG thanked all the participants and distributed machinery authorizations and booklets pertaining to different schemes among the participants. He further distributed stationary items among the needy children.

Later plantation drive was kick started by Director General at Departmental Nursery Keller Shopian. Various fruit plants including hazelnuts were planted. (KNS)
