Pays tributes to martyrs of Handwara, condoles demise of Omar Sadat

Srinagar, March 18 (KNS): Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) workers and activists protested in Sopore after Friday prayers against the continuous detention of party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah and SAR Geelani.
According to party spokesperson, soon after the Friday prayers, Freedom Party district president Kupwara, Peer Inayatullah addressed a huge public gathering at Khanqah-e-Sopore and led protests against the continuous detentions of Shabir Ahmad Shah and SAR Geelani.
Among the Freedom Party activists who protested include Raja Muhammad Ibrahim, Naseer Ahmad, Sanaullah, Muhammad Ashraf, Shahjahan, Feroz Ahmad, Bilal Ahmad and others.
The protestors, carrying banners raised pro-freedom slogans and demanded the release of Shah and Geelani. Shah was arrested on February 25 in a night raid and since then continues to be lodged in Rajbagh police station.
The spokesperson while criticising the state administration said every peaceful political activity has been banned and the career of youths destroyed by arresting them.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Shabir Ahmad Shah’s detention is unlawful and unjustified as authorities have no court orders for his arrest. Similarly, SAR Geelani is booked under false charges and is being subjected to political vengeance.
The spokesperson also paid tributes to mujahedeen martyred in a gunfight with Indian forces at Rajwar, Handwara saying “We are committed to take their mission forward”.
Meanwhile, on the directions of Shabir Ahmad Shah, a party delegation led by DFP general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari visited the bereaved family of Sadat Sahab whose son Omar Sadat passed away on Wednesday in New Delhi after a brief illness.
The delegation expressed condolence with the bereaved family particularly Omar Sadat and Advocate Zaffar Shah, who is the uncle of deceased, and prayed for strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. (KNS)
