Srinagar, Feb 03 (KNS): On the directions of incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah, a party delegation on Friday visited SKIMS to enquire about the health condition of the ailing Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani Sahib. They also prayed for his speedy recovery.
A party spokesperson in a statement issued to KNS criticised the state authorities for placing Shabir Ahmad Shah under continuous house detention. “Shah has been under house arrest or police detention for the last 41 months. This speaks volumes about the so-called claims of democracy and freedom of expression of state administration,” he said.
He challenged the so-called rulers to lift restrictions on the resistance leadership and compete with them on political front.
The spokesperson also expressed concern over the plight of detainees in state jails particularly the sub-jails of Jammu and Mattan, Islamabad.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said the inhuman treatment with prisoners is unacceptable.
“In Mattan sub-jail, the political prisoners are kept with criminals and are provided substandard food besides disallowed the medical treatment. Jails manuals are openly violated. Even those going to meet their wards are subjected to inhuman treatment,” he said.
Strongly condemning the arrest spree and vandalising of properties during nocturnal raids across nook and corner of the valley, the spokesperson said the police and forces have become habitual of resorting to such anti-people activities. “This is extremely condemnable,” he said. (KNS)
