Srinagar, June 24 (KNS): The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Friday strongly condemned the continuous house detention of its chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah saying the rulers have accepted defeat before the resistance leadership.
In a statement issued to KNS, the DFP general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari while lashing out at state administration over Shabir Ahmad Shah’s continuous house detention said it has become clear that the rulers instead of facing the resistance leadership on political front are resorting to coercive measures against the latter.“This clearly shows the rulers have accepted defeat,” he said, adding the present regime has surpassed the records of the previous one and has turned the whole state into a virtual jail through arbitrary arrests.
Giving details of Shah’s detention, Tari said since 2011, Shah has been under detention for a period of 33 months and 20 days during which he has been barred from offering 201 Friday and 9 Eid prayers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“This year, Shah Sahib continues to be under detention and there is complete ban on his political, religious, and social activities,” he said.
Tari said the “illegal” measures adopted by the rulers against the resistance leadership are the outcome of their “frustration”. He said the people of Islamabad by boycotting the polls showed the so-called government its worth even though the resistance leadership wasn’t allowed to express their viewpoint before the masses. “We salute the people of Islamabad for rejecting the election drama. It has become clear that the repressive measures against people couldn’t suppress their pro-freedom sentiments,” he said.
Meanwhile, a party spokesperson has paid tributes to mujahideen martyred in Drugmulla and Lolab gunfights and reiterated the pledge of taking the martyrs’ mission to its logical conclusion. (KNS)
