Naeem Akhtar’s statement on exams ‘absurd’: Moulana Tari

Srinagar, Oct 17 (KNS): The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Monday warned the government of serious consequences if it doesn’t stop the crackdown on the leaders and activists of its party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jama’at-e-Islami, and other resistance parties. It said there would be mass protests if authorities don’t stop the arrest spree.
In a statement issued to KNS, DFP general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari while condemning the crackdown on pro-freedom camp also criticized the government for arresting the religious scholars and clerics across the State. “This is an interference in the religious affairs of Muslims and cannot but be termed as a hapless act on part of administration and police. This is a sheer transgression,” he said.
Hailing the spirit and resolve of people during the ongoing anti-India uprising, Moulana reiterated his appeal to people to remain steadfast and committed to the freedom struggle. “We are conscious of the sacrifices rendered by people in following the protest calendar as the police and army are resorting to extreme kind of suppressive tactics in foiling the programmes. We must be cognizant of the fact that sacrifices are vital for achieving the goal,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Tari appealed people particularly the government employees to use private transport only during ‘deal’ time. “Though every section of the society is contributing towards the freedom movement, there is a need to further our role in this regard. The victims of the State terror including those languishing in jails are our brethren and we need to express our solidarity with them,” he said.
Terming the education minister Naeem Akhtar’s statement on examinations as “absurd”, the DFP general secretary said the minister is suffering from “frustration”. “To term the situation conducive for exams even after the killing of 96 people, blinding of hundreds, and injuring of thousands is absurdity on part of the education minister who wants to mislead the world opinion through his deceitful tactics,” he said.
Expressing resentment over the vandalizing of houses, vehicles, and public properties by police and army, Moulana Tari said the champions of ‘Mufti’s Vision’, ‘Battle of Ideas’ stand exposed now. “Is rendering the people economically paralyzed a part of the so-called Vision,” Tari questioned.
