Issues directions to range officers to implement programs under Green Mission

Anantnag, Dec 02 (KNS): Divisional Forest Officer Anantnag, Feroz Ahamed Chaket on Thursday reviewed developmental works of different ranges of the district.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that he reviewed the works of various ranges including Verinag, Anantnag, Kuthar, Kokernag and Vailoo Daksum of Anantnag Forest Division.

He sought feedback regarding the implementation of Green Mission, FRA claims, dumping of firewood, and damage claims from the range officers.

“Clear cut directions were given to all range officers to implement government programmes particularly Har Gavoon Haryali in letter and spirit by involving PRIs, local people and civil society for safeguarding of forests for coming generations too,” the statement reads.

DFO also said those who are hell bent to damage forests in any situation, the department will take action against those culprits.

He said that all range officers have been directed to speed up vigil and combing in vulnerable areas of forests and check the ill intentions of timber smugglers so that this wealth is protected.

As per the statement, those who attended the meeting include range officers of Verinag, Qazigund ,Kuthar, Kokernag and Daksum, Anantnag. (KNS)
