SOPORE, Jan 31 (KNS): In a significant development aimed at addressing long-standing public infrastructure needs, the design phase for the much-anticipated Maharajpora Bridge in Sopore has formally commenced, authoritative sources disclosed on Saturday.
Reliable sources informed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that this pivotal step was undertaken following the direct directives of the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Irshad Rasool Kar, signaling a move toward fulfilling a persistent demand of the local community.
Sources indicated that, subject to favourable weather conditions, physical construction work on the ground is projected to begin within the next 40 days, marking a swift transition from planning to execution.

Adding further details, the sources confirmed that the contract for this crucial project has been awarded to the Jhelum Construction Company (JCC), which will be tasked with realizing the bridge.
Meanwhile, sources close to the development informed KNS that MLA Irshad Rasool Kar also visited the site along with engineers to review the preparatory work.
Sources stated that the MLA directed the team to complete the bridge at the earliest so that the public may find relief. (KNS)
