Srinagar, June 04 (KNS): Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Switzerland, Gilles Roduit today called upon Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Chaudhary Lal Singh at his official residence here.
Roduit discussed various issues with the Forest minister. He apprised the minister over the challenges of protecting the wildlife in the forests across the Himalayas. He also appraised over various programmes of his country for protecting and preservation of the forests. The Deputy Head of Mission also discussed initiatives launched by Switzerland in the Himalayas. He said that Embassy was keen to help researchers from the State in Forest, Ecology and Wildlife sectors.

The minister informed him that for preservation and safety of Hangul (Kashmir deer), the government was keen to protect the State Animal and has submitted a project report of Rs. 25.72 crore to the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests for approval. The Deputy Head of Mission said that he has taken note of the situation in the Forest and Wildlife areas and his country would do every possible help for the protection of conservation of forests and protection of wildlife across the Himalayan State. He said that there was every possibility of launching an exchange programe in this regard. (KNS)
