Poonch, Feb 28 (KNS): Irked over delay in payments of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, people from several dozen panchayats of Poonch led by National Conference leaders today called upon Deputy Commissioner Poonch and demanded for a probe in the payment issued earlier.
Deputation was led by Youth National Conference Provincial President Ajaz Jan with other NC leaders and people from different areas of Poonch a part of it.
During half an hour long meeting with DC Poonch, issue of delay in MGNREGA payments was put forth.
“Payments of most of the works done in previous years is pending and department has failed to issue the payments whereas legislators have also failed to tackle swelling liabilities” they said demanding Deputy Commissioner Poonch to take up the matter before government so that it is resolved.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
People also demanded a thorough probe into the payments of MGNREGA issued in past years alleging that favouritism has been done in many areas.
Besides this National Conference Youth Provincial President Ajaz Jan demanded that a proper road map should be prepared by District administration and concerned departments to bring betterment in the dilapidated roads of the area including Poonch Salhotri, Mandi Loran roads.
Jan also demanded that compensation of land used for laying of electric fence on Line of Control should be given to locals. (KNS)
