Srinagar,  Feb 18 (KNS): Awami Itehad Party strongly condemned the anarchic and undemocratic deportation of senior Labour Party leader Debbie Abrahams. Party termed the entire episode as absolutely unsavoury and called it yet another blow to India's democratic credentials. Just because she heads a parliamentary group on Kashmir and has been critical of the government in no way justifies what happened. The world is keenly observing autocratic, reprehensible actions of the BJP, people of India must also understand such actions have far reaching implications and are damaging  image of their country. The goodwill achieved by India in the global community since 1947 is all going down the drain thanks to the present regime. Those who are currently occupying chairs of power in New Delhi must understand that it will only strengthen their own position and India's democratic credentials, if they would learn to be tolerant and accommodative of contrarian views .Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe manner in which Debbie Abrahams was mistreated deserves all the condemnation in the world said party Spokesperson Sheeban Ashai in a statement. Through such actions it seems, present regime want to send a clear signal that anyone who has a view different than theirs would be subjected to humiliation and hounded down. This episode may not even go down well with the present Conservative Government in Britain, like we saw in the case of Pramila Jayapal in United States, Ashai added . Unlike the current regime in India these countries may not take lying down public humiliation and mistreatment of their leaders, even if they are from the opposition.
