Srinagar, Mar 24 (KNS): Department of School Education has decided to start Mobile Science Laboratories to overcome the shortage of laboratories in far flung areas. DSEK Dr. G.N. Itoo expressed these views in his presidential address of the second session of the First Day of “Two Days Workshop on use of telescope for sky observation” in the auditorium of Department of Information Srinagar. He said that the department is taking many steps for the promotion of science subject in the schools which include the upgradation of the laboratories as per the modern aspirations, the establishment of herbal gardens and providing adequate facilities for practicals to the students. He said that these types of workshops will attract our children towards Science subject.
Presiding over the first session of the workshop, the Chairperson of Science Teachers Association and Associate Professor, NIT Srinagar Dr.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelSimin Rubab said that to attract the students towards the science subject is the need of the hour. She said that we should use more practicals to promote the scientific temperament in the students. She added that we should make sure the equal participation of females in such type of programmes.
The workshop was jointly organized by Directorate of School Education Kashmir, Science Teachers Association, SPEAK NGO and Astronomical Society of India.
DSEK was accompanied by the affiliates of State Media Centre Education, Media Coordinator Fayyaz Ahmad Fayyaz and OSD Cultural Education G.N. Shakir.
On the first day of the workshop the experts of astronomical studies from Mumbai, Pritesh Ranadive, Aniket Sule and Sagar Gokhale delivered lectures about the astronomical studies and the use of telescope.(SMCE). (KNS)
