Dental College Principal flags off team of 14 doctors to Gurez

Srinagar July 18 (KNS): A team of 14 doctors was flagged off by the principal/Dean Professor Dr Riyaz Farooq government Dental College and hospital Srinagar for 6 day oral health screening awareness and treatment camp which is to be held in Gurez valley from 18 July to 23 July. 


An official told kashmir news service (KNS), that the camp is an part of the ongoing Dental outreach program of department of public health community dentistry department. 

He said that the outreach programme has been in force from April 2022 in district Bandipora and district Anantnag. "As part of this programme Till date more than 60 sites have been visited and more than 7000 patients have been screened within these camps," the official said. 

He added that the said team which is headed by Dr Aasim Farooq Shah Hod department of public health dentistry department shall visit various places in Gurez for screening of school children and public at large.

"Free dental treatments in form of dental Fillings , scaling and cleaning shall be provided to these patients. More over the programme shall be helpful in education of the masses about the dental health diseases and their prevention . Free medicines shall also be provided to the patients within these camps," the official said. 

He futher said that the program shall be beneficial to the general public and also shall be helpful to the health sector by decreasing the burden of oral diseases through early detection and control of the dental problems within this population.(KNS).
