Delimitation commission gets two months extension in J&K

 Srinagar, Feb 22 (KNS): The Union government on Tuesday granted two months of extension to the Delimitation Commission in Jammu and Kashmir, which was set up in the UT in the month of March 2020 to redraw boundaries for assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies.

 
In an order, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), ministry of Law and Justice stated that the commission has been granted two months of extension in J&K. 
 
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Delimitation Act, 2002 (33 of 2002), the Central Government hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department), number S.O. 1015(E), dated the 06th March, 2020,” reads the order.
 
It reads that in the said notification, in paragraph 2, for the words, “two years”, the words, “two years and two months” shall be substituted. (KNS)
