Delhi HC Questions NIA Over Costly Travel for Jailed MP Rashid

New Delhi, July 25 (KNS): Delhi High Court has asked the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to explain why jailed MP Engineer Rashid is being charged heavy travel expenses to attend Parliament sessions.

Rashid, currently behind bars, represents the people of north Kashmir. His party, the Awami Itihaad Party, says the high costs make it harder for him to fulfill his duty as an elected leader.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“The court has taken note of the unfair financial burden on Engineer Rashid,” party spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said. “An MP should not face such obstacles while serving his people. This goes against the spirit of democracy.”

The case will be heard on July 29, when the court will also consider Rashid’s regular bail plea.(KNS)
