Srinagar, 12 July(KNS): Reacting sharply over state of  non-regular workers of Power Development Department, JK People's Party Chief Sheeban Ashai demanded expeditious regularisation of PDD employees.

Party Supremo in a statement issued to press said, "Plight of daily wagers, casual labourers, need based workers engaged with PDD department is know to everyone.  Employees engaged with the department are being forced to take to streets to voice their legitimate demands. Ashai lambasted present Government over its continued heartless approach towards hard working employees.

Lack of safety measures; absence of a robust regularisation policy is only the tip of iceberg. In the year 2021, Government had promised employees of fast tracking regularisation process but despite two years have passed ,no concrete measures are being undertaken to resolve their genuine issues.

Such brazen trampling of rights of hard working employees is abominably despiriting, Ashai furthermore highlighted how lack of safety measures have caused scores of deaths; year after year. Scores of employees engaged with the department have lost their lives whilst hundreds have been rendered disabled. Recently also a PDD employee died allegedly due to ‘electrocution’ in Rajouri district, incident took place in Thanamandi subdivision.

Before that another PDD employee died of electric shock while repairing transmission line in Nasrullahpura area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Similar heart wrenching incident took place in Srinagar also when a lineman, Late Ishfaq Ahmed died after he was electrocuted while repairing a live wire in Fateh Kadal area". JK People's Party top brass impressed upon current LG led regime to intervene immediately for timely redressal of all genuine concerns of employees engaged with PDD department.(KNS).
