Delay in appointment of dental surgeons for over 13 years inexcusable: Tasaduq Yaseen

Srinagar, Oct 06 (KNS): Tasaduq Yaseen, Secretary to JKPC Chairman today regretted the delay in appointment of dental surgeons and urged the present dispensation to address their concerns empathically.

“I am dismayed at the plight of dental surgeons in J&K. Thousands of doctors are staring at lifelong unemployment. Imagine their stress and anxieties. WHO recommends one dental surgeon for 7500 population. J&K has one dental surgeon for 30000 population. And yet surprisingly no doctors have been recruited since 2008”, he said.

He further said that shortage of dental surgeons also has an adverse effect on the patients seeking dental care as they are only left with the option of consulting quacks.

“The shortage of dental surgeons has left patients requiring oral-dental care with no option but to consult quacks. Admin must address these concerns swiftly and empathically”, he added. (KNS)
