Dehradun tourist dies, four staffers injured after fire breaks out in Pahalgam hotel

Srinager, June 12 (KNS): An elderly tourist from Dehradun lost her life in the incident, while four hotel staff members sustained injuries after a devastating fire broke out at a hotel in Pahalgam area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district, officials said here on Monday.

 

An official said that the fire engulfed the hotel earlier today, causing extensive damage to the property. Amidst the chaos, a tourist who was staying at the hotel with her family got trapped and after the fire was finally brought under control his body was recovered, he said.

The injured hotel staff members have been identified as Mehraan Parry (25) from Seer Anantnag, Yasir Ahmad (24) from Katsoo Bijbehara, Naveed Ahmad Lone (20) from Pahalgam, and Tariq Ahmad Bhat (27) from Laripora Pahalgam. Deceased Bhupinder Gill (75) from Dehradun.

 

"Efforts are underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, and a thorough investigation is currently in progress," the official said. (KNS).
