Mass Communication pass outs seek CM’s intervention

Srinagar, Jun 06 (KNS): The mass communication and journalism postgraduate degree holders in Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday appealed the sate government to come wit a job policy for them and asked Chief Minster to intervene the matter. 
The students said over 150 students complete their post graduation in four universities in the state they are facing  miserably as there are less opportunities in government sector.
"There are 500 posts of information assistant vacant in many government departments but the vacancies have not been. Since 2016, only 12 posts of Information Assistants have been advertised. It has caused anxiety among us,” a group of mass communication students said.
RTI Act-2009 (sec-5) of sub-sec (1) states every public authority within one hundred days of the commencement of the Act, shall designate Public Information Officers and Assistant Public Information Officers at each sub-divisional level or at sub-district level.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said the state information commission issued a notification last year and recommended to all the public authorities in the state to take appropriate action under section-5 for the appointment of the PIOs and APIOs if such officials have not been designated and notified against vacancies that have arisen due to transfer or retirement of the incumbent.
“We also moved to CM’s grievance cell. After some time they called us and assured that they will take action regarding the matter,” they said.
Interestingly, the government last year said that Mass Communication will be introduced at higher secondary level but till now it hasn’t come clear over it. (KNS)
