Appeal SMC to redress their grievances

Srinagar, Dec 06 (KNS): Though the unscheduled power cuts have already irked the inhabitants of Srinagar, the residents here complained that the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has failed to repair the street lights thereby left them to face tremendous hardships.
The residents accused the authorities for ignoring their plights and demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.
Residents of various areas including Kral Khud, Sheelteng, Saraf Kadal, Aali Kadal, Fateh Kadal and several others said that the authorities have failed to repair the defunct street lights in their area.
Muhammad Sidiq, one of the residents said, “We have been continuously pleading before SMC officials to repair the street lights in their area but unfortunately our plea has fallen into deaf ears.”
He said that despite the unscheduled power cuts in Srinagar areas, they have been left them god’s mercy as with the defunct street lights; they cannot move outside in the evening.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Maximum of the street lights became defunct soon after installation. Unfortunately, the street lights were not repaired since then,” he said.
The residents of several other mentioned areas also said that the street lights in their areas are lying defunct from past several months. “We approached SMC officials in this regard but nothing has been done in this regard,” they said.
Inhabitants also said that they fear to walk in the evening hours and usually prefer to offer evening prayers at home due to the fear of stray dogs in darkness.
They later appealed higher ups to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievances at earliest.
Meanwhile, a senior official of SMC told KNS that they don’t receive any complaint in this regard.
However, he said that they will look into the matter and the grievances of people will be redressed shortly. (KNS)
