Defunct ATM at Qalamabad Mawer irk residents 

Handwara, May 10 (KNS): The Defunct  ATM of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Branch Qalamabad in north Kashmir’s Handwara is giving tough times to People as the area is having a single ATM for around sixty thousand people.

According to the local residents, the ATM lying defunct since last four days and the concerned authorities are paying no heed to it.

A group of customers said to Kashmir News Service (KNS),that they are facing immense inconvenience due to the frequent technical snags over past one week at the only available ATM at qalamabad .

They said the banks are closed and people faced a lot of hindrances to withdraw the money from ATM.

Bilal Ahmad a resident of Mawer said, he is continuously visiting this ATM to withdraw the money however he is returning empty hands as the ATM lying defunct in the area, he said he can't go to other ATM in absence of the public transportation.

The people of the area said whenever the ATM is not functioning in the area they are being forced to travel 20 kilometres to withdraw the money.

Inhabitants of the area also said the bank has become the Covid-19 hotpot as it is functioning in a single room despite the construction of new buildings.

Altaf Ahmad a local said there are more than fifty thousand accounts in this business unit and is functioning in a single room which is giving tough time to the account holder.

The people of the area have demanded immediate restoration of ATM and shifting of the bank to the new building so that people will not face the problem.

Meanwhile, PRO Jammu and Kashmir bank Aijaz Ahmad told that he will look into the matter. (KNS)
