Dean, MS Dental College Srinagar express gratitude to govt for recognition of MDS degrees

Srinagar January 17 (KNS): The authorities of Dental College Srinagar on Tuesday expressed gratitude to the government and ministry of Health and Family Welfare for recognising MDS degrees against increased intake capacity from 2 to 3 in 6 specialities. 

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has approved recognition of the MDS degrees in Govt Dental College Hospital, Shireen Bagh to be awarded by University of Kashmir, against increased intake capacity from 2 to 3 in 06 specialties.

The statement reads the specialities include Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Periodontology, Prosthodontics and Crown Bridge, Oral Medicine and Radiology, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and and Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.

As per the statement Prof Riyaz Farooq, Principal and Dean Dental College & Hospital has expressed his happiness on the said development and has said that it will help in giving an opportunity to lot of meritorious and deserving BDS candidates of J&K and other parts of the country to pursue their post graduation course in dentistry.

He said it will also help in improving the academics and patient health care in the institution. 

He also thanked all the faculty members and staff members of the institution who have worked very hard for last so many years to achieve the said recognition.

Meanwhile, Prof Shabir Ahmad Shah, Medical Superintendent, Dental College & Hospital also expressed his happiness and has also conveyed his gratitude to all the concerned especially to the Principal and Dean of the institution. (KNS)
