De-escalate tension at the borders: Hakim Yasin to Indo-Pak govts

‘Modi should take a lead and offer hand of friendship to Pak’

Srinagar, Nov 26 (KNS): Urging Indo-Pak governments to de-escalate tension at the borders, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today called for the starting of a structured dialogue among all stakeholders to solve vexed Kashmir issue.
“The continued Indo-Pak border tension has resulted in killings and destruction as well as large scale displacement of population living near the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB). It is Kashmiri on both sides of the border who is getting affected due to the hostilities between the two armies,” Hakim Yasin said while addressing a huge public gathering in Khansahib area of Budgam district.
Urging the Indo-Pak leadership to respect the 2003-ceasefire agreement and stop sacrificing the innocent people on both sides for narrow domestic political considerations, the MLA Khansahib said, “De-escalating tensions and replacing rhetoric with a productive discourse is the need of the hour.”
“India and Pakistan should end the stalemate and start a dialogue with Kashmiri leadership including separatists so that peace can return to sub-continent. Indo- Pak leadership should shun its ego and start a dialogue process. History is witness that the previous wars have yielded nothing but destruction,” he said.
The PDF chief also called the India to offer a hand of friendship to Pakistan as it suites India being one of the biggest democracies in the World. “India has to behave like a big brother in the region and Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has the mandate of the people should take a lead in this direction.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelPeace in sub-continent can’t be guaranteed till this issue is lingering,” he said.
Hakim Yasin said that only development can’t solve Kashmir issue as time has proven that. “Unless conducive atmosphere isn’t created in Kashmir, dream of development can’t be achieved. The government of India should recognise the political essence of the ongoing unrest in Kashmir and explore all ways to initiate a credible process to resolve it without further delay,” he said.
The MLA Khansahib also said that by sending civil society delegation to Kashmir the breakthrough on talks can’t be achieved. “In the recent times, some delegations including the one led by former Union Minister Yeshwant Sinha, have visited Kashmir to start a dialogue process with stakeholders. However, unless the delegations don’t have the mandate from the New Delhi, nothing can be achieved by their visits,” he added.
The PDF chief also urged the state government to adopt a humanitarian approach to stop indiscriminate crackdown and arrests across Kashmir. “On the one hand the government claims that it is committed to restore peace in the Valley for initiating a peaceful dialogue but on the other it is using force to suppress the people. Peace can’t be achieved by force,” he said. (KNS)
