Will continue to monitor developmental work on ground: Irfan Manhas

Srinagar, June 03:(KNS) As part of a public outreach program, Vice Chairman District Development Council Shopian Irfan Manhas on Thursday visited several villages of Wachi including Hajipora, Mantribugh, Nagishern, Chakoora Alamganj etc.

 

Pertinently, macadamization work has already started at several places in the District and are being executed by the concerned R&B department. In this regard, Irfan Manhas paid a surprise visit at one of the work sites at Hajipora Mantribugh Road via Chakoora and pointed out few improvements needed to be carried out.

 

He appreciated the work done by R&B department and directed them to ensure that work quality is maintained at all costs. He also met with the locals of the area and took a firsthand report from them.

 

He was accompanied by DDC Hermain Abdul Rashid Lone and other Apni Party DDC members.

 

During the visit, the council members reviewed a number of construction works. They also assessed the condition of the Roads, issues related with electricity and water supplies in several villages.

 

The people of village Nagishern apprised the Chairman and the council members about the problems related to electricity including transformers and electricity poles. DDC Vice Chairman Irfan Manhas assured them that their genuine demands would be fulfilled and resolved soon.

 

 He also visited Alamgunj where people expressed their views regarding non-functioning of Lift Irrigation Scheme.

 

“The pump is defunct and the locals are facing extreme problems in this regard. People informed that they get a produce of more than four lakh apple boxes in this village every year but it is unfortunate that the pump is defunct due to which they are not able to water their garden.

 

Later in the day, while talking to the media, Irfan Manhas said people have high hopes for us and we will try our best to resolve all genuine issues of the people.

 

“There is a need to bring development on the ground and we are committed to it and I request our people to stay away from rumor mongers or self-centered individuals who upload malafide material on social media without confirming its authenticity. They're just in the pursuit of scoring some brownie points and creating hindrance in the much-needed development work.

 

He termed them as copy-paste warriors who post such things from the comfort of their rooms but don’t have any idea about ground reality.

 

“I assure people that the good times have started and with our diligence and public cooperation we will see good days coming ahead, Irfan Manhas further said.

 

He assured the people that they will continue such surprise visits and public outreach programs as part of their commitment towards the welfare of the people of District Shopian. (KNS)
