DC Kupwara Distributes 2.5 Lakh Financial Aid to Families of Road Accident Victims

Kupwara, Dec 6 (KNS) :In a compassionate move, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today provided immediate financial assistance totaling ?2.5 lakh to the Next of Kin (NoK) of three individuals who tragically lost their lives in recent road accidents. This aid was disbursed under the provisions of the J&K Road Accident Victim Fund.

The Deputy Commissioner presented cheques of ?1 lakh each to the families of two deceased individuals and ?50 thousand to the family of a third victim.

The financial sanction for these families was authorized following approval by a mandated five-member committee. This committee, dedicated to overseeing the fund's operations, is chaired by the Deputy Commissioner himself and includes key district officers: the ARTO, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Account Officer to the DC Office, and the Deputy SP Traffic.

During the cheque distribution, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated government’s commitment to the scheme's swift implementation. He strongly urged all concerned officers to ensure the rapid and priority resolution of all pending cases related to road accident deaths and injuries.

Furthermore, he stressed the critical need for promoting widespread public awareness about the existence and benefits of the fund and establishing an efficient single-window clearance system to significantly expedite and streamline the disbursal process for compensation claims.(KNS)
