DC Budgam reviews operations of Newly Functional Material Recovery Plant at Paller

 BUDGAM, JANUARY 21: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today visited the newly approved and recently made functional Material Recovery Plant (MRP) at Paller, Budgam, to review its functioning and operational efficiency. 

 
The Material Recovery Plant has been approved by Deputy Commissioner and has been made operational through his timely intervention, marking a significant step towards strengthening scientific solid waste management in the district.
 
During the visit, the DC carried out a comprehensive inspection of all sections of the Material Recovery Plant, including waste segregation units, recycling and processing areas, storage facilities, and material handling systems. The DC reviewed the functioning of machinery, workflow mechanisms, operational protocols, and safety measures in place at the plant. He also reviewed the efficiency and preparedness of the plant.
 
The DC also interacted with the concerned officials and plant staff to gain first-hand insight into the day-to-day operations, manpower deployment, challenges being faced during the initial phase of operations, and future requirements for smooth functioning of the facility.
 
The DC observed that systematic segregation of waste at multiple stages is being effectively carried out, facilitating recycling and ensuring scientific disposal of waste. He appreciated the efforts of the department and plant workers for their dedicated contribution towards maintaining cleanliness, minimizing landfill burden, and promoting environmental sustainability in the district.
 
Emphasis was laid on maintaining consistency in segregation practices, strict adherence to prescribed guidelines, and ensuring that the facility operates at optimum capacity. 
 
The DC stressed that strengthening solid waste management mechanisms remains a top priority of the district administration, and that the MRP plays a crucial role in achieving long-term sanitation and environmental goals.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe underlined that optimum utilization of the newly functional MRP is essential for improving the overall sanitation profile of Budgam district. 
 
The DC stressed the need for regular monitoring, capacity augmentation, and timely maintenance of infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operations, particularly during the initial operational phase.
 
The DC also emphasized the adoption of scientific waste management practices in line with national standards, while encouraging the exploration of innovative and sustainable solutions for waste processing and recycling. 
 
The DC highlighted the importance of public awareness and community participation in waste segregation at source,noting that effective solid waste management is a collective responsibility requiring coordinated efforts from all stakeholders.
 
The DC said that District administration is committed towards promoting scientific waste management and supporting initiatives aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission. He reiterated that sustained efforts will continue to be made to strengthen infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and encourage environmentally responsible practices, with the objective of ensuring a cleaner, healthier, and greener Budgam district through sustained and result-oriented sanitation and waste management initiatives.
 
Besides, SDM Beerwah, Toufeeq Gazi; CEO, Municipal Council Budgam, and other senior district officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
