ANANTNAG, APRIL 15 (KNS) : Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat, on Tuesday participated virtually in the seventh edition of the District Collectors' 'Peyjal Samvad-2026', organised by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
During the Samvad, which serves as a national platform for cross-learning among districts, the DC presented the district's best practices, challenges, and outcomes achieved under the flagship scheme. Key achievements highlighted included source development, infrastructure creation, grassroots awareness through community participation, and the involvement of women and local representatives.
A special segment of the presentation focused on the successful rejuvenation of traditional springs, including Badamnag and Zadinag.

Convergence with the Forest, Fisheries, and Rural Development Departments was established to protect catchment areas and ensure long-term source sustainability. The DC also informed that water testing is being conducted in all villages, Anganwadi centres, and schools, with five women from each village trained to conduct field kit tests. Results, officials added, are uploaded in real-time on the Ministry's Water Quality Management Information System portal.
Senior officers from the Jal Shakti Department, including the Superintending Engineer (Hydraulics), attended the Samvad. (KNS)
