Ensure convergence with ICDS, health for overall development

ANANTNAG SEPTEMBER 4 (KNS):  Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Basharat Qayoom reviewed the functioning of the Education Department here in a meeting held at the of DC Office.

 
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Chief Education Officer, XEN R&B, representatives from School Construction Division, DEPO and other concerned.
 
At the outset, the Chief Education Officer briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the education profile of the district and apprised him about the status of Teacher-Student ratio in the district with twelve Educational Zones.
 
The Deputy Commissioner laid emphasis on strengthening the education indicators which would ultimately help in improving the overall Education scenario of the district.
 
The DC emphasizing on infrastructural capacity building, directed the engineering wing to ensure completion of all education related works on priority basis. He said that Zonal Educational Officers will regularly monitor works and submit the status report to the CEO. He said that several works, particularly Girls Hostels have been completed and should be immediately taken over by the Education department so that it can be utilized appropriately.
 
The DC also laid thrust on convergence of Health and ICDS with School Education in achieving the all round physical and mental growth of the students at all levels.
 
The DC further asked the CEO to keep a track of enrollment and ensure all the eligible students availing pre-matric scholarship continue to avail the benefits up to post matric and keep a check on any dropout.
 
The meeting also reviewed the developmental activities in the Education sector being executed through PRIs, construction of school buildings under SAMAGRA, dropout rate, staff position and financial progress on all the works.(KNS)
