Day long seminar on Cyber Crime against Women held at GDC Women's Sopore

Sopore, Dec 09 (KNS): The department of Computer Applications at Government Degree College Women's Sopore on Thursday organized a seminar on Cyber Crimes against Women, it's precautions and strategies. 

The event was organized to impart knowledge to the students and staff abouth the various issues related to cyber crimes and it's prevention. Principal of the college Prof F.R Beigh welcomed the guests and also highlighted the need of such initiatives in the contemporary times. 

During the event the lecture on the theme was delivered by Dr Faheem Masoodi, Assistant Professor at University of Kashmir, He also spoke on different emerging trends in cyber crimes like hacking, phishing, spoofing and defamation besides issues and challenges related to the use of Social Media. 

A poster presentation contest on the theme was also held on the occasion for creating mass awareness while 30 students were designated as Cyber Crime volunteers. 

The chief guest on the occasion was Superintendent of Police Sopore Shudhanshu Verma-IPS besides Dr Faheem Masoodi from University of Kashmir, Aazim Pandith a well known criminal lawyer, Prof Tanveer Ahmed of GDC Baramulla and Wasim Ahmed Regional director ICIC Bank Ltd. Besides prominent Media persons, representatives of various sponsores, staff and students. 

The day long seminar was sponsored by ICIC Bank Ltd, Print INC Sopore and Global Automation while Kashmir News Service (KNS), Good Morning Kashmir and GM News agency were as Media Partners. (KNS)
