Day after being injured in militant attack in Budgam, slain SPO’s brother succumbs at Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 26 (KNS): Day after being injured in a militant attack, brother of slain SPO who was killed in the attack last evening at his residence in Chadbugh village of Budgam district, succumbed to his injuries today morning.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that a special police officer (SPO) and his brother were injured after being attacked by militants at their residence in Chadbugh village last evening.

He said that SPO Ishfaq Ahmad and his brother Umar Jan, a student, were fired upon by militants at their residence last evening, injuring them grievously.

“Soon after the incident, duo was taken to a nearby hospital, where Ishfaq succumbed to his injuries, while Umar was referred to Srinagar hospital in a critical condition,” he said.

The official said, however, today morning Umar also succumbed to his injuries at Srinagar hospital.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers of the slain brothers were held at their native village amid tears and sobs. (KNS)
