Srinagar, Sep 05 (KNS): Curfew, restrictions and shutdown continued for the 59th straight day on Monday while the clashes and protest rallies were reported from several areas in Kashmir during which several person sustained injuries and were shifted to hospital for treatment.
A top police official told KNS that curfew and restrictions were imposed today to thwart any possible protests against the civilian killings in Kashmir.
Meanwhile, amid observing complete shutdown, clashes and protest rallies were reported from several central Kashmir areas during which dozens of people were injured.
Locals of Noorbagh area of Srinagar told KNS that a protest rally was organized by the people from Baghwan pora area of Noorbagh which was attended by the people from adjoining areas.
They said that the protesters marched towards Palpora where a youth was killed a few days back; however, forces used pellets and tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters during which scores of people were injured. “The injured were shifted to hospital for treatment,” local sources said.
According to KNS correspondent, minor clashes erupted between youth and forces in Kak Sarai and Kani Kadal area during which forces used a few tear gas shells to disperse the youth.
Scores of people including some women were injured in Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar after forces used force to foil a proposed pro-freedom rally in the locality.
Witnesses said that clashes erupted between youth and forces in the area that later spread to Machoo area.
They said that scores of people were injured during the clashes who were shifted to hospital; for treatment.
Meanwhile, the residents of the locality alleged that forces ransacked the windowpanes of several residential houses and also vandalized the venue of the rally.
Locasl said that clashes erupted between youth and forces in Batamaloo area of Srinagar during which forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the agitating youth.
Meanwhile, a unity-cum-pro-freedom rally was held at Aaratth village of Budgam district.
Thousands of people participated in the rally during which pro-freedom and anti-India slogans were raised. “It was completely peaceful,” a participant said.
Meanwhile, all the shops, petrol pumps, schools, and other business establishments remained closed throughout the day while the reports of clashes and protests were also reported from a few more central Kashmir areas.
Similarly, amid complete shutdown in South Kashmir districts, clashes and protest rallies continued in several areas during which scores of people were injured.
According to local sources scores of people were injured after forces used tear gas canisters and pellets to foil a pro-freedom rally which was organized by the people at Kelum area of Bijbehara.
Locals said that forces used tear gas canisters and pellets to disperse the protesters who carried out a protest rally against the civilian killings in Kashmir.
“Scores of people were injured and were shifted to the hospital for treatment,” they said.
Meanwhile, a pro-freedom was held in Zangalpora village of Kulgam district despite raids by forces. Thousands of people participated in the pro-freedom rally during which anti-India and pro-freedom slogans were raised.
Reports said that clashes erupted between youth and forces during scores of people were sustained injuries and were shifted to Islamabad district hospital. One “critically” injured has been sent to Srinagar for advanced treatment while another one is being operated upon.
Reports said that on Sunday, when forces raided Fatehpur village to foil rally that was going on in nearby Sadura village, locals said, the electricity transformers were first target.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“All the electricity transfers in the village have been showered with bullets and have been damaged permanently,” reports quoting locals said.
“This is new way to curb the resistance movement and showcases the frustration of forces,” said a local of Fatehpora. “They are trying to make people suffer from every angle but it won’t help them.” In some other areas of South Kashmir, people alleged that forces cut down electricity and precede nocturnal raids.
“At 1 am forces cordoned our village and cut the electricity supply,” said a local of Zangalpora Kulgam. “Soon forces started vandalizing windowpanes and terrorized us.”
In the Bulbul Nowgam, Achabal people also said that forces during nocturnal raids damaged the electricity transformers.
Meanwhile some youth also alleged that during checking and raids forces took away their mobile phones.
Meanwhile, locals in chrath village in Qazigund alleged that forces went “berserk” in the village beating whoever came in their way. “Besides vandalizing the private property, forces beaten up men, women and children in their area,” a local said.
“At least twenty private vehicles and motor bikes were damaged beyond repair,” he informed.
Meanwhile, the reports of clashes and protest rallies were reported from Pulwama and other South Kashmir districts during the day. Similarly, a complete shutdown was observed in North Kashmir districts while clashes and protests were reported in several areas throughout the day.
According to KNS correspondent, Bhat Zahoor, the residents of Baharbad, Pushwara, Tengpora, Khumina areas of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district jointly offered Asr Namaz on road at Naidkhai to mark a protest against the civilian killings in Kashmir.
The residents of said areas assembled on roads and jointly offered prayers on roads.
They raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans after the prayers as well.
Meanwhile, reports said that a pro-freedom rally was held in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports said that a peaceful pro-freedom rally was held at Eidgah Warpora area of Sopore town amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. “Thousands of people from many villages of Zaingair attended the pro-freedom rally,” an eye witness said.
The speakers urged upon the people to be peaceful while holding pro-freedom protests.
According to KNS correspondent, Wasim Majnoon, massive protests erupted in Lolab and Trehgam areas of north Kashmir Kupwara district during which profreedom and anti-Inida slogans were chanted.
Clashes erupted in Lalpora, Krusan Lolab area in Kupwara district during which forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the agitating youth.
Sources said that a pro freedom rally was scheduled to be held in Lolab area of Kupwara, people tried to come out on roads to stage protest against the civilian killings in Kashmir but the authorities had imposed restrictions and people were asked not to venture out of their homes.
Meanwhile, in Trehgam area of Kupwara, clashes erupted between youth and forces at 1main Chowk during which forces resorted to tear smoke shells to disperse the youth.
People in Kupwara said that the mobile phone services, except BSNL have been suspended in the district again thereby leaving them to suffer.
“The incoming and outgoing call facility on all mobile phones except BSNL has been suspended,” a local from the area said. (KNS)
