Srinagar, Nov 04 (KNS): On 119th consecutive day, normal life in Kashmir continued to remain paralyzed with clashes, protests and processions reported from several Valley areas.
According to KNS correspondent, restrictions were imposed in old city areas to thwart any possible protests today.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted between youth and forces in couple of areas in Srinagar including Anchar area of Soura, Batamallo and others.
Forces used several tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters.
According to local sources, as soon as the Friday prayers ended in Anchar area of Soura, people mostly youth assembled outside the Masjid’s and staged protest.
They were chanting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans during the protests.
“Following the protests, clashes erupted between youth andf forces in the area during which forces used scores of tear gas canisters to disperse the youth who were pelting stones on them,” they said.

Meanwhile, locals from HMT Zainakote alleged that forces ransacked the window panes of several residential houses during the clashes in the area.
Meanwhile, reports said that in north Kashmir’s Palhallan town also, clashes erupted as soon as people marched towards Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway after prayers.
Reports said that government forces tried to stop them near Government Higher Secondary School by firing stun grenades and tear gas shells.
Meanwhile, reports said that post Friday protests were held in North Kashmir’s Bandipora town followed by clashes between the government forces and protesters.

Reports said that people after offering congregational prayers tried to assemble in main Chowk and started raising slogans.
The protesters pelted stones on forces as they reached the spot. The forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse protesters that led to clashes. “Forces fired dozens of tear smoke shells and resorted to pellet firing to disperse the angry youth. However there are no reports of any injury,” reports said.
Meanwhile people from adjoining villages of Khenusa area assembled in Khenusa Chowk and offered Friday Prayers in Eid Gah.
Meanwhile, according to the statement issued to KNS, police said that except for few minor stone pelting incidents in Pulwama, Kulgam, Awantipora and Bandipora, overall situation across the valley remained peaceful and under control.
“During the day normal life was observed generally in the valley. Vehicles were seen plying on city roads as well as in main towns and on the inter-district roads. The shops/vendors in parts of Srinagar city and other towns were also seen doing their business,” police said.
They said that last evening, miscreants tried to set on fire Boys Middle School Asthan Mohallah, Naid Khai in District Bandipora. Fire services and police immediately reached to the spot and brought fire under control at the initial stage, with the result minor damage occurred to the building and records of the school. A case FIR number 152/16 under section 436, 511 RPC was registered in police station Sumbal and miscreants involved in this incident are being identified.
“Necessary security deployment was made in some vulnerable points in Srinagar and also in main towns of the valley to prevent any possible untoward incident disturbing normal life and smooth flow of traffic,” police said. (KNS)
