Handwara, Apr 5 (KNS): Residents of several villages in the Mawer area of Handwara town have accused the Power Development Department (PDD) of failing to adhere to the prescribed power supply schedule, causing severe inconvenience.
Locals from Audoora, Nowgam, Drungsoo, Khudi Lawoosa, Warpora and adjacent areas told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that they are facing unscheduled power cuts despite the installation of electricity meters and regular payment of bills.
A resident of Drungsoo alleged that the department has failed to meet its obligations and demanded the cancellation of their supply agreements.
In response, an official maintained that electricity is being provided as per a rotational schedule of three hours of supply followed by a two-hour cut. However, residents claimed the timetable is not being followed on the ground.
The affected families have appealed to the authorities to intervene and restore a reliable power schedule at the earliest. (KNS)
