Dar-ul-Mominat Madrasa Reduced to Ashes in Kandi Karnah Fire

Karnah, Kupwara 31 Aug (KNS: In a heart-wrenching tragedy, the historic Dar-ul-Mominat Madrasa in Kandi, Karnah, was completely gutted in a devastating fire, reducing the entire structure to ashes and causing financial losses worth lakhs of rupees.

For over 30 years, Madrasa Dar-ul-Mominat stood as a beacon of Islamic knowledge in the valley, nurturing generations of students and serving as a cornerstone of religious education. Its sudden destruction has left the local community in deep shock and sorrow.

Soon after the fire broke out, A team of Indian Army (Thunderbolt Gunners) reached the spot and played a decisive role in containing the inferno. Army personnel, without personal regard for their own safety, tirelessly battled the flames shoulder to shoulder with the Fire & Emergency Services Department and local volunteers. Locals have widely appreciated the Army’s dedication, describing their efforts as an act of bravery and humanity in the face of disaster.

In this painful moment, President Beopar Mandal Karnah and Private Secretary to MLA Karnah, Haji Tasleem Mir, expressed heartfelt solidarity with Chairman Dar-ul-Mominat, Haji Shabir Ahmed Turk Sahib, and other members of the institution.

Haji Tasleem Mir appealed to the Honourable MLA Karnah, Mr. Javaid Mirchal, along with the District Administration Kupwara and Karnah Administration, to immediately extend ex-gratia relief to the madrasa authorities.

He also urged the well-off people of Karnah to come forward generously so that rebuilding can begin without delay, ensuring that the light of knowledge and faith continues to shine once again in the valley.(KNS
