Tangmarg, March 16 (KNS): Though the primary schools were reopened after Covid-19 lockdown,  the administration has failed to rebuilt a government primary school in Qazipora area of Tangmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district for the past more than 10 years.

Locals told news agency KNS that the school is in a dilapidated conditions having no washroom facilities and on the very first day of the reopening of schools on Monday, students were forced to take classes under open sky.

They said that the government claims about ensuring better education cum facilities in Government run schools have fallen flat as the education department has failed to repair the school building damaged in the year 2010.

They said that since the school building got damaged, it was shifted to a local Panchayat ghar and since then it has not be repaired or given any attention by the authorities.

The people of the area said that they have conveyed the matter to concern officials several times but their pleas seem to have fallen on deaf ears.

They appealed to the authorities to construct a new building for the school so that academics of the school going children in the area wont get affected.

Zonal education officer Tangmarg, Abdul Aziz told KNS that the new school building was already sanctioned but due to some land issue with forest department the process is going on and they expect that the building will be completed and functional for the class work by the end of this year. (KNS)
