Demand ouster of Director SKIMS, Principal GMC

In an emergency meeting today at Srinagar Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) and Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) condemned in strong words arrest of SKIMS employees who were demanding removal of Director SKIMS Dr Showkat Zargar.
In a joint statement, President DAK Dr Nisar-ul Hassan and President EJAC Abdul Qyoom Wani said that the “barbaric” police action against SKIMS employees is against free opinion and is unacceptable.
“SKIMS has been turned into a garrison where Director SKIMS has become a dictator who with the help of police has unleashed reign of terror against employees who are raising voice against his misdeeds,” the statement said.
The statement added that the Director SKIMS has illegally managed his position and is involved in corruption including managing DM gastroenterology for his son at the cost of so many meritorious candidates.
“Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar who enjoys the privilege of continuing with his position despite termination of re-employment has also come heavy on GMC employees who demand his ouster. He has turned GMC into a dispensary where there is no work culture, no fear of accountability and poor patients are victims of defunct administration,” the statement added.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“These officials in order to cover up their inefficiencies and wrongdoings are threatening and harassing employees for raising voice against their irregularities. These two heads have eroded premier health institutions which were created with an aim to mitigate the sufferings and miseries of poor people. Their anti people and anti employee policies have hollowed the pillars of these institutions which are at the brink of devastation,” said the statement.
It adds that the patient care was the biggest causality in these institutions as these officials spend their whole time to retain their illegally occupied positions.
“It is agonizingly painful to see our premier institutions dying and it is our duty to safeguard our assets. If arrested employees are not released immediately doctors and employees will have no other choice but to go for state wide agitation,” the statement said.
“We urge Chief Minister to personally intervene and oust Director SKIMS and Principal GMC from their positions and replace them by honest and competent persons so that the premier public institutions are prevented from devastation,” the statement added.
