Srinagar, Aug 09 (KNS): Curfew and restrictions continued on 32nd consecutive day on Tuesday in Kashmir while the reports of clashes and protests rallies were reported from South and north Kashmir.
A top police official told KNS that curfew and restrictions remained in force in several districts including Kulgam, Anantnag, Pulwama, in parts of Srinagar and in other areas to thwart any possible protests against the civilian killings in Kashmir.
Witnesses told KNS that a large contingent of police and paramilitary CRPF troopers were deployed on roads and streets and had erected concertina wires at most entry and exit points in several localities.
According to KNS correspondent, thousands of people participated in a rally which was carried out in Lelhar area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the civilian killings in Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that amid pro-freedom slogans, people from other adjacent areas reached Lelhar on bikes and other vehicles and participated in the rally, which was held in a playground.
Meanwhile, reports said that clashes erupted between youth and forces in Lalpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district against the alleged thrashing of youth by forces on Monday.
Reports said that thousands of people including women, men and elders staged protests on the second consecutive day today against the alleged high-handedness of the forces in Lalpora area of Lolab.
People stayed in Jamia Masjid overnight and prevented forces from even making the curfew announcement today morning. (KNS)
