Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS): Condemning the aggressive tactics adopted by the authorities to prevent a peaceful protest march of Hurriyat leaders and activists to register protest against the policy of suppression, imposing repeated curbs on the political, social and religious activities of resistance leadership, arrest of youth and gross violation of human rights of peaceful and unarmed civilians, the Hurriyat (M) termed it as completely dictatorial and state-sponsored terrorism.
To foil the protest march programme of Hurriyat (M) the authorities had put the Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest and deployed a large contingent of forces outside the Hurriyat headquarters to put it under siege.
The protest march was led by former Chairman of Hurriyat (M) Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat and comprised of hundreds of Hurriyat leaders and activists. The forces surrounding the Hurriyat (M) office forcibly stopped the march outside the office and prevented it from moving ahead.
The conglomerate said by using aggressive and suppressive methods to foil the march of the Hurriyat (M) outside the Hurriyat (M) headquarters and by placing the Mirwaiz under house arrest, the government’s tall democratic claims stand exposed.
Earlier a statewide session of Hurriyat delegates and activists presided over by the former chairman Prof Abdul Gani Bhat was held at the Hurriyat headquarters which was addressed by senior Hurriyat leaders Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Farooq Ahmad Mamoosi and Syed Muzaffar Rizvi.
In his presidential address Prof. Bhat castigating the government for indulging in dictatorial policies and politics of vengeance by arresting and placing under house arrests Hurriyat leaders and youth said that without resolving the vexed Kashmir issue as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir, peace and stability not only in Jammu Kashmir but in the entire subcontinent and South Asia would remain elusive.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
In the session senior hurriyat leader Ghulam Nabi Zaki presented a resolution before the representative gathering of the Hurriyat (M) which unanimously endorsed the same.
The resolution condemned the aggressive tactics of the government against the Hurriyat leaders and youth by arresting them and imposing curbs on their political, social and religious activities, and human rights violations carried in J&K on innocent unarmed civilians.
The resolution also appealed the international human rights bodies to use their influence on New Delhi to stop human rights violations against Kashmiris.
The Hurriyat (M) resolution said that curbing the freedom of expression of the people and thus preventing them from raising their voice for their rights reflect the undemocratic means and policies of government of India as well as the authorities of J&K.
The resolution also said that the aggressive attitude of intolerance and extremist tendencies in India and giving it the color of nationalism and patriotism was extremely unfortunatre and not only against the very interest of India but the situation created by such extremist thinking and attitude could give rise to dangerous situation.
The resolution also condemned the harassment and arrest of JNU students and slapping seditious charges on students Prof. SAR Geelani.
The amalgam also condemned the house arrest of the Hurriyat (M) Chairman Miwaiz Umar Farooq, Hurriyat (M) Media Advisor Shahid-ul-Islam and senior leader Javaid Ahmad Mir.
Meanwhile Hurriyat (M) spokesman has condemned the harassment of APHC senior leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza who while going to his residence was taken into custody by the police. (KNS)
