Cultural Wing of DIPR Observes Youmi Mohd Subhan Baghat at Akingam

Anantnag, Oct 19 (KNS) : The Cultural Wing of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), in collaboration with Karam Buland Folk Theatre Handgun and Kashmir Bhagat Theatre Akingam, today organized a cultural event “Youmi Mohd Subhan Baghat” at the Open Air Theatre, Akingam (Anantnag) to commemorate the 32nd death anniversary of the legendary folk artist Mohammad Subhan Baghat.

Mohammad Subhan Baghat, a prominent figure in Kashmir’s cultural landscape, was affectionately remembered for his immense contribution to the revival and preservation of the traditional folk theatre form Bhaand Pather. Known for his comic talent and socially reflective dramas, Baghat brought joy to countless audiences and left an enduring legacy in Kashmiri art and culture.

On the occasion, a series of cultural performances including Bach Nagma, Rouf, Band Pather, and Shahnievadan were presented by artists from the local community as well as various parts of Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe performances celebrated traditional art forms and highlighted Baghat’s influence in sustaining them for future generations.

Speakers and cultural enthusiasts paid homage to the late artist, recalling his unmatched dedication, humor, and creativity that rekindled Kashmir’s traditional performing arts.

They lauded the efforts of the Cultural Wing of DIPR and partner organizations for continuing to promote folk art and theatre heritage through such commemorative events.

The locals and participants expressed gratitude towards the organizers for honoring the memory of Mohammad Subhan Baghat and for their ongoing commitment to safeguarding Kashmir’s rich cultural traditions.(KNS)
