J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Wednesday hosted district poetic symposia at Manasbal. The composite mushaira, which began at 3:00 P.M., was attended by several prominent poets of district Ganderbal. Representing languages like Kashmiri, Urdu, Pahari and Gojri the multilingual mushaira was part of a series launched by the Cultural Academy for broad-based participation of genuine budding and senior poets of the State.
Member Legislative Council, Yasir Reshi was the chief guest on the occasion while noted poet-writer, Farooq Nazki presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Reshi said that the efforts of the Academy aimed at decentralization of its activities were welcome as, according to him, such initiatives would help genuine talent avail opportunities of participation.
Announcing a grant of Rs. 2 lakh for Harmukh Adbi Markaz Ganderbal out of Constituency Development Fund, Reshi said that the present dispensation is committed to promote the cultural ethos of the State and shall take all necessary measures in this direction.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Earlier in his welcome address, Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that the poetic symposia at Manasbal was part of a series launched by the JKAACL for broader participation of genuine local talent.
Emphasizing the need of decentralization Dr. Hajini said that by hosting activities at district level the Academy was fulfilling its constitutional obligation which emphasizes promotion of diverse culture and literature of the State.
A joint effort of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar, today’s composite mushaira at Manasbal witnessed poetic renderings by poets like Syed Akhter Mansoor, Abdul Rashid Gamgeen, Ghulam Rasool Qamri, Syed Abbas Jowhar, Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Mansha Khaki, Abdul Majeed Hasrat, Mohiudin Shilzari, Wajid Chattergulli, Ghulam Mohiudin Fida, Abdul Bari Baba, Abdul Salam Sherpathri, Masood Shadaab, Abdul Ahad Bhat and Mohammed Yaseen Parrey.
The event was coordinated by Academy’s assistant editor, Encyclopaedia, Dr. Mohammed Rafiq Khan.
