PULWAMA, Aug 23 (KNS) : The CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine's (IIIM) Field Station at Bonera in Pulwama district has been commended for its contributions to sustainable hill agriculture, an official statement said on Sunday.
A high-powered Research Council, led by Prof. P. Balaram, former Director of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and Chairman of the CSIR-IIIM Research Council, reviewed the ongoing research and technology development programmes at the station.
The review team included Dr. Ajit K. Shasany, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Orissa, Prof. R. Uma Shaanker of the University of Agricultural Sciences Bangalore, industrialist Dr Lal Hingorani, Prof. Parthasarthy Das of IIT Dhanbad, and Er Abdul Rahim, Head of CSIR-IIIM Srinagar.
The Council acknowledged the station's work in industrial agriculture, floriculture, medicinal and aromatic crops, integrated horticultural production systems, and apiculture, the statement said.
Dr. Ahmed said the station's research ecosystem was oriented towards enhancing farm profitability, strengthening sustainable agro-ecosystems, and accelerating the deployment of precision agrotechnologies and climate-resilient farming practices.
The review noted that the Field Station was evolving as a platform for science-driven innovation, technology validation, and farmer-centric impact, bridging fundamental research with deployable technologies for mountain agriculture, it added. (KNS)
