CSFK aghast over Dr Javaid’s appointment as Principal GMC

Appeals CM to intervene

Srinagar, Dec 25 (KNS): Civil Society Forum Kashmir (CSFK) Health on Sunday expressed resentment over reports of Dr Javaid Chaudhry being considered for the post of Principal GMC Srinagar.
The forum in a statement issued to KNS said that the doctor have huge question mark on Dr Javaid’s past as MS of GB Panth hospital where hundreds of children died right under his nose.
Civil Society Forum Kashmir expresses shock and sorrow after learning through media reports that Governments considering Dr Javaid Chaudhry for the post of principal GMC Srinagar.
“If it is true then it is appalling that the Government could not find a better candidate for such an important position,” the forum said.
They said that Dr Javaid Chaudhary’s past record is extremely concerning. “He was the person under whose nose as MS of GB Panth hospital hundreds of infants, kids & children died,” they said.
They said that the first enquiry report submitted by the then Director SKIMS had clearly pointed towards gross dereliction of duty and criminal negligence for such disastrous outcome which shamed the humanity.
“It was said by those who worked in the hospital that the ventilator tubes which are ideally to be changed from patient to patient were not replaced for month’s altogether while the hospital was headed by Dr Choudhry,” they said.
The forum said that many media outlets including the ones like NDTV and India Today showed reports in which junior doctors came out openly and accused Dr Javed Choudary of forcing them to prescribe substandard medicines to infants and kids and ironically Government is considering the name of same person for the post of Principal GMC Srinagar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“The junior doctors also came out openly in media accusing Dr Choudhry of demanding money from them for passing them in exams. One such doctor said he was forced to sell his wife’s gold to pay for unjustified & criminal extortion of money. Another doctor came out openly on National TV accusing Dr. Chaudry of compelling him to supply construction material, shocked by such demands the medical student gave up his further education in the field of medicine,” they said.
They said that assembly house committee report had also found mismanagement in the hospital and had strongly asked for a strict inquiry against the head of the hospital.
The statement reads that it is unfortunate that a person with such a track record is being considered for the post of Principal Government Medical College Srinagar which post by default head’s even all the associated hospitals of GMC Srinagar in the valley and if correct the move will certainly expose the false and high claims of government of being honest and sincere towards society.
Civil society appealed to the Chief Minister of J&K to intervene in the matter and ensure the people of Kashmir valley are not deprived of their medical rights.
“What message is Government trying to give to the society by appointing a doctor who could not even manage a single hospital and are now giving him the responsibility of all the hospitals of Kashmir Valley,” they said. (KNS)
