Chandigarh, Nov 1 (KNS): BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today said that alarming increase in incidents of farm fires in Punjab reflects dismal failure of governance.
He said Punjab chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has no moral right to talk against the Centre because his government has miserably failed to utilise the assistance given by the Modi government in terms of money and technology.
He said more than 20,000 incidents of farm fires have been recorded in the state which was not only alarming and reflected the inefficiency and insensitivity of the Bhagnwat Mann government to address the problem but also reflected how pathetic it was to the environment issues in the region.
Chugh said officers of the agriculture department are sulking at the manner the state government has been handling the problem and it is a serious matter that they are resorting to protests against the inept policies and programmes of the Mann government.
Not only this, the AAP government has failed to utilise the machines and equipment worth lakhs of rupees made available to the state by the Centre to address the problem.
What to talk of the state the chief minister has failed glaringly to check the problem even in his home district.
Chugh said it was criminal negligence on the part of the AAP government, more so, because the maximum cases of stubble burning are happening in the chief minister's home district, Sangrur, itself. It shows how casual the chief minister has been in handling the problem.(KNS)
