Srinagar, Oct 28 (KNS): CPI (M) State Secretary and veteran Kisan leader Ghulam Nabi Malik has condemned the arrest spree in valley and has asked the government to come clean on the number of youth arrested during the recent few months in different districts of South Kashmir.
“The families of the arrested youth particularly from Kulgam, Anantnag and adjoining districts are worried for the safety of their children. It is really a disturbing trend as the government has contradicted its own claims about peace and reconciliation,” Malik said while demanding immediate release of the arrested youth in South Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He censured the state government for directing the police machinery to bring down innocent youth through wanton arrests on the pretext of maintaining law and order.
Malik said nearly dozens of youth have been arrested in nocturnal raids in the past few months across Valley especially in South Kashmir while hundreds are being selectively hounded and harassed. He condemned the persecution of youth based on their political opposition to PDP-BJP coalition government and said such an approach from the Government is extremely tragic and saddening. (KNS)
