Calls for Targeted action against Delhi Terror Culprits
Srinagar, Nov 18 (KNS): The CPI(M) on Tuesday expressed serious concern over reports of harassment faced by students and labourers from Jammu & Kashmir in different parts of the country following the recent terrorist incident in Delhi.
In a statement issued here, CPI(M) leader M. Y. Tarigami said that while those responsible for the heinous act in Delhi must be brought to justice swiftly, it is equally imperative to ensure that innocent citizens are not subjected to intimidation, suspicion, or reprisals.
He stressed that students “should not be dragged into it,” and that the country must guarantee a sense of safety and dignity for all, especially the youth pursuing education away from home.
Tarigami said such an atmosphere of fear is detrimental to the academic and professional environment that young people require.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“While the space for those responsible for terrorist acts must shrink, serious measures must be taken to ensure that innocent people do not feel distressed or humiliated,” he added.
He emphasized that winning the hearts and minds of the youth is crucial, warning that “desperation is always counterproductive.” Past experiences, he said, have shown that indiscriminate actions only deepen alienation rather than help resolve conflicts.
The CPI(M) demanded that there should be no indiscriminate arrests or harassment in the aftermath of the Delhi incident. Law enforcement agencies must ensure that students, labourers, and ordinary citizens do not become collateral victims of fear or suspicion.(KNS)
