CPI(M) slams PM Modi’s Israel visit, calls it ‘betrayal’ of Palestine

New Delhi, Feb 26 (KNS) : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday vehemently opposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel, accusing his government of betraying the Palestinian cause and legitimising what it termed the “murderous Netanyahu regime.”

In a statement issued here, the party’s Polit Bureau asserted that the visit is extremely ill-timed, coming at a moment when Israel is accused of waging a “genocidal war” in Gaza. The CPI(M) claimed that despite a fragile ceasefire, daily violations by Israeli forces continue, resulting in the deaths of scores of Palestinians. It also pointed to the surge in illegal settlements and stepped-up attacks in the occupied West Bank.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The Left party further alleged that the primary objective of the visit is to deepen strategic, military, and economic ties with a “Zionist expansionist regime” that seeks to dominate the region with US backing. It described the timing as particularly “inopportune,” given the purported US preparations for a military attack on Iran at Israel’s behest.

Through this visit, the CPI(M) charged, the BJP government has once again “laid bare its shameless commitment to the US-Israeli axis in West Asia.” (KNS)
